Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid Preview: Latest odds, team news and predictions

Real Madrid travel to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano for a cross-city derby with Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday.

Santiago Solari's men faced Barcelona in a Copa del Rey Clasico in midweek, drawing 1-1, and have a Champions League trip to Ajax on Wednesday evening.

Atletico's schedule is much less frenetic with Diego Simeone's team having a week to prepare this game, and no European commitments next week.

Latest odds

Atletico Madrid are the only side left in La Liga who are unbeaten at home this season and Los Rojiblancos can be backed at 11/8 (2.37) to claim their eleventh home league win of the current campaign.
Real Madrid have won five of their 11 matches on the road this term and are priced at 21/10 (3.10) with the draw available at 9/4 (3.25).

Team news

Marcos Llorente limped off the pitch at Camp Nou on Wednesday night with a muscular injury and is unlikely to be available for Real Madrid.

Atletico for their part have Diego Godin, Koke and Saul Niguez all pushing for respective returns from injury. Diego Costa and defender Stefan Savic remain sidelined for the hosts.

Preview

The last four La Liga meetings between these two sides have ended as draws and in truth, there has been little to separate them.

Madrid derbies have in the past been low-scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals paying out in six of the last seven La Liga meetings, and that trend is likely to continue this weekend.

The Wanda Metropolitano has seen just 23 goals scored this season (19 by Atletico and four by visiting teams) with only four stadiums in the Primera Division seeing fewer strikes.

Tips and predictions

Less than three goals in the game is priced at 4/5 (1.80) while under 2.5 goals and both teams to score 'no' is offered at 5/4 (2.25). Both look like solid options for a game where goals are expected to be at a premium.
