The Fibonacci betting strategy

Even if you weren't attracted towards mathematics and science, you've probably heard of the Fibonacci series or Fibonacci numbers by now, a sequence of numbers defined by the recurrence relation. This popular sequence was brought into gambling and now is successfully used as a betting strategy in sports betting.

What is Fibonacci betting strategy?

What you should know first is that the Fibonacci series is represented by a sequence of numbers, each number being the sum of the previous 2 numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, etc.

When most bettors look at the Fibonacci betting strategy series and are asked to point a similar betting strategy, they immediately mention Martingale. Indeed, Martingale is similar because it's also a progressive betting strategy, but the biggest difference is that Fibonacci doesn't have the goal of recovering all losses with a big winning bet like Martingale.

You can start using this Fibonacci betting strategy with any stake. For example, if you want to start with 1 EUR, the sequence will look like this: 1 EUR, 1 EUR, 2 EUR, 3 EUR, 5 EUR, 8 EUR, 13 EUR, 21 EUR etc. In case of winning the bet = you go back two steps, while in case of losing the bet = you move forward one step.


Example: If you place and lose your first two bets of 1 EUR stake, you'll need to add the previous units - and therefore you'll know which will be the next stake: 2 EUR. If you lose again, you'll add again the previous two ( 2 EUR + 1 EUR = 3 EUR) and you'll place 3 EUR. After this, if you lose again, the next stake will be 5 EUR ( 3 EUR + 2 EUR). The point is that you'll keep moving forward with one step in the sequence (by doing the sum of the previous two numbers) as long as you lose. If you manage to bet 5 EUR and win, you'll need to go back two steps and the next stake will be: 2 EUR.

- You will bet 1 EUR and lose. Sequence: 1 
- You will bet 1 EUR and lose. Sequence: 1 1 
- You will bet 2 EUR and lose. Sequence 1 1 2
- You will bet 3 EUR and lose. Sequence: 1 1 2 3
- You will bet 5 EUR and win. Sequence: 1 1 2 3
- You will bet 2 EUR etc.

Like any other betting strategy, Fibonacci is not 100% successful, but it can bring really big profits if you analyze carefully the sporting events you're betting on, you set some limits (such as a target to reach, a certain number of bets to place a day), set a good starting stake and make some calculations in order to reduce the risks as low as possible.
