Newcastle United vs Fulham tips Erik Perrins 11
Newcastle fans saw their side edge away from the danger zone last weekend as they picked up a potentially crucial 3 points away to the struggling Huddersfield, lifting them to 14th in the tale and putting them 4 points clear of the bottom 3. Things are still tense at St James’ Park though, with that 10 game winless run at the start of the season putting the fans on edge. However, they have clearly improved a lot since then and their recent results suggest that a top half finish isn’t out of their reach this season. Newcastle’s win over Huddersfield made it 4 wins from their last 7 Premier League games. A change of manager doesn’t seem to have helped The Cottagers an awful lot. Claudio Ranieri made an instant impact with their 3-2 win over Southampton, but the troubles at Craven Cottage run deeper and a single victory wasn’t enough to lift them out of their slump. Even their attacking play has seemingly deserted them. The Cottagers have failed to score in 6 of their last 9 competitive games. Away from home Fulham have been atrocious recently. They have lost 7 on the bounce in the Premier League and have picked up just a single point from a possible 27 this season. Given Newcastle’s morale boosting win last weekend, I’m backing a Magpies win on Saturday along with a 1-0 correct score predictions.
Newcastle United vs Fulham tips Marc Lawrenson
Fulham had their chances in their defeat by West Ham last week, but could not take any of them. Cottagers boss Claudio Ranieri has been in charge for just over a month now, and I am sure he will have been sizing up his squad and deciding who he wants to bring in when the January transfer window opens. I know Fulham spent a bit of money in the summer, but they need to spend again because they are not going to stay up with what they have got. Newcastle still have their own relegation worries and their home form is a problem, but I am backing them to win this one. Results-wise the Magpies are still a little bit up and down, but overall their form has been a lot better than it was at the start of the season. Source: BBC
